About Our Chapter

Our Montgomery County Chapter,

which has been serving the local community currently at six (6) convenient locations since 1982, has 50 men and women dedicated to assisting small businesses & non-profits to grow and prosper.  We offer FREE BUSINESS Counseling and On-going Mentoring!  In-Person, Video conference, Email and Telephone. 

Our certified, volunteer members are experienced business professionals with diverse career and education backgrounds.  Most of them have started and grown their own successful businesses, some were corporate high ranking executives and managers, while others have experience with non profit organizations or government agencies. Many of our counselors are still part of the current workforce and have the expertise to offer contemporary best practices, procedures, strategies and techniques to start or grow a business.    

Annually we conduct over 175 seminars/workshops attended and serving over 8000 clients. 

Our counselors' skills and industry expertise include: accounting, consulting, manufacturing, banking and finance, financial planning, public relations and advertising (digital & traditional), franchising, human resources, marketing, operations, publishing, wholesale and retail sales, strategic planning, sales, technology including  website design, internet & social media marketing, wholesale distribution, import/export, medical, pharmaceutical, mergers/acquisitions and nonprofit management as well as doing business with the state, local and federal governments.

SCORE volunteers come from a variety of business and ethnic backgrounds, but they all share a belief that small business owners are more likely to succeed if they have a business mentor to guide them. Some counsel and mentor clients; others conduct workshops; still others use their talents to help our chapter grow and prosper.

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and has been mentoring small business owners for more than forty years.

SCORE is a valuable network of 13,500+ volunteers who offer small business entrepreneurs confidential business counseling services at no charge. SCORE volunteers have the knowledge and experience to help any small business owner get the help they need. Our dedicated volunteers represent over 3,000 years of experience across 62 industries.

SCORE also provides local workshops and events throughout the country to connect small business owners with the people and information they need to start, grow, and maintain their businesses, as well as online workshops available 24/7. SCORE provides resources, templates and tools to assist entrepreneurs in developing tools and plans they need to navigate their way to small business success.

Founded in 1964, SCORE is headquartered in Herndon, VA and nearly 400 chapters throughout the United States and its territories, with over 13,500 volunteers nationwide.
